Paulette Waltz was born and raised near Washington, D.C. often returning to her mother's hometown in Cebu, Philippines. She pursued Psychology at Emory University, studying abroad in Europe and Africa. Post-graduation, she traveled Asia and lived in northeast China.
Her next destination was Miyakejima, Japan,
placed
through the
JET Programme, where after
a massive
volcanic eruption and subsequent five-year evacuation, she aided the recovery through educational empowerment. |

Her true love for photography began in Namibia, where coming across a nomadic tribe of
Himba women, she felt a connection without any common language. "We spoke through our eyes and by touch. Eventually we were clapping and dancing together." She left with
photographs that explained the experience the only way possible- through her eyes,
without words. |
